Serial numbers on bicycles can sometimes be extremely difficult to find. The numbers are placed in different locations depending on the manufacturer. The following photos are a guide to help you locate the serial number on your bike. If you can't find your number, please bring the bicycle by the Police Department or contact a Rice Police officer who can assist you in locating the number.
It is very important that we have the serial number in case your bicycle is stolen. The serial number is a required field for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), which is where information on stolen property is reported. Any police agency in the USA has the ability to search the reported records for a specific item and serial number to check it for stolen. An entry cannot be made without a serial number.
If your bicycle has a serial number in a location different than the photos below, please contact Sgt. Thomas Hudak so we can take a photo of your location to add to this page.
